DO PEOPLE REALLY UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF A ''V8''

It has come to my attention that most people out here really don't know what is meant by V8, actually, when most people hear the word V8 especially here in Kenya they automatically know that the person is definitely talking about the Toyota Landcruiser especially the 200 series and this statement will follow ''like the one our President is chauffered in.'' This is a really misplaced notion, to begin with, because a V8 simply put let me begin by mentioning that we have a V4, V6, V8, and the V10 and V12 as the top of the range engines. see more

The V6 simply put is a 6-cylinder engine whereas the V8 means an 8-cylinder engine. The V in V6 and V8 represents how the cylinders are arranged in your engine, V-type engines have cylinders placed in a V-like shape, or simply put they are arranged in two equal rows forming somewhat of the V shape. The V8 engine 8 cylinders are mounted on a crankcase featuring two banks of four cylinders each sharing a common crankshaft.

The V8 engine produces more power and provides acceleration at a faster rate. Therefore to summarize all the intel on the V8, it is not a particular car known as the V8 but the engine in it because different vehicles even the small ones can have the V8 engines.
